Research Assistance

The librarian can refer you to print and electronic resources to provide you with the information that you need. You may contact the library staff to ask a question or obtain information pertaining to labor-related topics by phone, in person or by e-mail.

The library has over 10,000 labor-related print titles with an emphasis on occupational safety and health.

Records for items in the collection can be accessed in NCDOL Library Online Catalog (via NC Cardinal).

The library subscribes to specialized databases that the library staff can search for you. The librarian can also provide assistance with locating information on the Internet.

Interlibrary Loan

Libraries that would like to borrow books or journal articles from the N.C. Department of Labor's Charles H. Livengood Jr. Memorial Library can email the librarian at dol.library@labor.nc.gov, call 919-707-7880, or use the DOCLINE system.

Members of the Public may submit a request for print materials from the Charles H. Livengood Jr. Memorial Library on interlibrary loan by going to their local public, community college or university library. To borrow safety and health videos or DVDs, contact the library directly at 919-707-7880 (Only citizens of North Carolina may borrow the videos and DVDs. They are not loaned out through Interlibrary Loan).

Employees of the N.C. Department of Labor should contact the librarian for assistance.

Note: Standards (e.g., ANSI) are not circulated to the public and cannot be borrowed through interlibrary loan. However, they can be accessed in the library.
