About Recognition Programs

The North Carolina Department of Labor's Recognition Programs recognize employers and employees that implement strong safety and health programs that go above and beyond the requirements of the law. 

Farley presents SHARP award

Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program

The SHARP Program is designed for small and medium-size employers that have established, implemented, and maintained exceptional workplace safety standards.

Carolina Star Program

The Carolina Star Program is designed to recognize employers and employees who have implemented effective safety and health management systems and maintain injury and illness rates that meet the criteria for participation.

Gastonia Safety Award

Safety Awards Program

The Safety Awards Program recognizes private and public firms throughout the state that achieve and maintain good safety records. It includes Million-Hour and annual Safety Awards.

Workplace Impact Network Certificate

The Workplace Impact Network (WIN) certificate recognizes employers who go above and beyond for their employees, especially during times of crisis or hardship. WIN is a network of businesses that is recognized by NCDOL for creating a positive work environment for their employees as well as contributions to their community.

Gold Star Grower Housing Program

The Gold Star Grower Housing Program recognizes growers who provide farmworker housing that meets and exceeds all of the requirements of the Migrant Housing Act of North Carolina.
