About the Library

The Charles H. Livengood Jr. Memorial Library is located on the fifth floor of the Old Revenue Building in Raleigh. The library's collection consists of over 14,000 labor-related volumes, which include approximately 120 journal titles and more than 1,500 safety and health-related videos. The library is staffed by a professional librarian who is ready to assist you in finding the information resources you need.

The librarian is happy to provide individual or group tours of the library and demonstrations of available electronic resources. North Carolina businesses, other state agencies, and the public are welcome to use the library at any time, but you are encouraged to make an appointment to ensure that the librarian will be available to help you with your information needs. Please note that access to the building is restricted to employees so the librarian or other staff members need to escort visitors to and from the library.

Library hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please call 919-707-7880 or email dol.library@labor.nc.gov before you visit to be sure we are open.
