SN 58 - Availability of and Access to Toilets and Hand Washing Facilities

This OSH Standards Notice discusses the responsibility of employers in general industry and construction to provide and permit employees reasonable access to hand washing facilities and toilets as needed or with reasonable restrictions. It references the following standards: 29 CFR 1910.141(c)(1)(i) – Toilet facilities, 29 CFR 1910.141(d) – Handwashing facilities, under the standard for Temporary Labor Camps; 29 CFR 1926.51(c) – Toilets at construction jobsites and 29 CFR 1926.51(f) – Washing facilities, under the Sanitation standard.
