On September 26, 2014, OSHA had published a final rule to extend the date for crane operator certification by three years until November 10, 2017. On November 9, 2017, OSHA published a final rule  (Subpart CC - Crane and Derricks)  which further extends the date for crane operator certification by one year until November 10, 2018 (Federal Register). The N.C. commissioner of labor adopted this final rule verbatim with an effective date of May 1, 2018.
