PDF • 204.37 KB - December 15, 2022

On August 9, 2010, OSHA issued this final rule (Federal Register) to revise the Cranes and Derricks Standard and related sections of the Construction Standard to update and specify industry work practices necessary to protect employees during the use of cranes and derricks in construction. This final standard also addresses advances in the designs of cranes and derricks, related hazards, and the qualifications of employees needed to operate them safely. On September 26, 2014, OSHA published a final rule to extend the date for crane operator certification by three years until November 10, 2017.

The N. C. commissioner of labor adopted this final rule verbatim with an effective date of November 20, 2014.
