On April 6, 1994, federal OSHA promulgated additions and revisions to the occupational safety and health standards for General Industry (Federal Register). The revised federal standard, Subpart I - Personal Protective Equipment for General Industry, becomes effective July 5, 1994. The final rule adds paragraphs (d), (e), and (f) to 1910.132 - PPE General requirements, revises 1910.133 - Eye and face protection, 1910.135 - Head protection and 1910.136 - Foot protection, adds 1910.138 - Hazards to Hands, and adds non-mandatory Appendix A - References for Further Information (Non-mandatory) and Appendix B - Nonmandatory Compliance Guidelines for Hazard Assessment and Personal Protective Equipment Selection to Subpart I. This final rule at 29 CFR 1910 Subpart I was adopted verbatim in North Carolina by the Commissioner of Labor with an effective date of September 1, 1994.
