The memorandum recognizes the influx of queries about these two OSHA standards, since the final rule on Walking-Working Surfaces was published November 18, 2016. Guidance is provided to compliance safety and health officers for enforcing the new handrail and stair rail requirements at 29 CFR 1910.29(f)(l)(ii)(B) and 29 CFR 1910.29(f)(1 )(iii)(A) - Fall protection systems and falling object protection - criteria and practices.
