CFR 172 - Standards Improvement Project - Phase II
In June of 1998, federal OSHA published in the Federal Register he Standards Improvement Project to revise or remove provisions of its standards that were outdated, duplicative, unnecessary, or inconsistent, or could be clarified or simplified by being written in plain language.
On January 5, 2005, federal OSHA published the second phase of this project to again revise or remove a number of health provisions in its standards. In some cases OSHA has made substantive revisions but feels the changes streamline and make more consistent the regulatory requirements in OSHA safety and health standards. The N.C. Commissioner of Labor adopted this final rule verbatim with an effective date of April 14, 2005.
