CFR 148 - Storing and Handling of Anhydrous Ammonia, 29 CFR 1910.111
On June 18, 1998, federal OSHA promulgated a final rule that corrected or eliminated provisions from various standards (63 FR 33449-33469). These changes were made to correct out of date, duplicative, unnecessary, or inconsistent standards. One of the changes concerns storing and handling anhydrous ammonia (Ref: 29 CFR 1910.111). This rule corrects § 1910.111 by deleting and reserving paragraphs (f)(7) and (f)(8). Paragraph (f)(7) contains safety requirements for full trailers and semitrailers that transport ammonia. Paragraph (f)(8) contains requirements to protect such vehicles from collision. Both of these provisions address safety requirements that fall under the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation (DOT). The June 18, 1998, corrections and revisions were adopted verbatim with an effective date of October 8, 1998.
