CFR 140 - Consolidation of Repetitious Provisions
On March 7 and June 20, 1996, federal OSHA promulgated revisions (Federal Register) to the General Industry, Shipyard Employment, Construction and Agriculture Standards pursuant to a Presidential initiative to simplify regulations. The purpose of the action is to improve OSHA regulations by revocation of outdated and obsolete provisions, consolidation of repetitious provisions, clarification of ambiguous requirements. Note: Several standards in construction, agriculture and shipyard employment refer back to the general industry standard as being identical. The final rules at 29 CFR 1910, 29 CFR 1915, 29 CFR 1928 were adopted verbatim in North Carolina by the Commissioner of Labor with an effective date of September 1, 1996.
