Art Britt

Art Britt serves as chief of staff for the N.C. Department of Labor. Britt is responsible for overseeing the implementation and administration of the commissioner’s policies and departmental operations.

Britt came to the N.C. Department of Labor as director of administration in 2001 adding oversight of all governmental affairs operations to that in 2003. In February 2013, he was appointed by Commissioner Cherie Berry as only her second chief of staff. Previously, Britt served as legislative liaison to Secretaries Jim Broyhill and Estell Lee at the N.C. Department of Commerce. Before that he served as special assistant to Gov. James G. Martin’s general counsel, James R. Trotter. Britt was a political consultant for several years after working on the staff of several statewide political campaigns.

Britt is a proud native of Robeson County and a son of the Town of McDonald. He received a bachelor’s degree in English/Communications from Campbell University.
