For the employer that would like to do more while waiting for Consultative Services, the steps below provides guidance in developing an effective and comprehensive safety and health program. Please note that these steps do not need to be conducted in this specific order, however, the order can help guide on what you should focus on.

Step 2: Which Standards Apply

Start going through the Which Standards Apply webpages as it will help you prepare for the Consultative Services site visit. The more familiar you are with the OSHA standards that apply to your worksite, the better equipped you will be regarding the type of questions to ask the consultants. These webpage will also help you with additional guidance on meeting the standards.

Step 3: OSHA Training

Register for online for free OSHA training provided by the OSH Division. This will help you get familiar with the standards that apply to your workplace. You may also request for onsite outreach training at your facility.
