Robert Olman

Robert Olman serves as the Deputy Commissioner for Standards and Inspections for the North Carolina Department of Labor, overseeing the Boiler Safety; Elevator and Amusement Device; Retaliatory Employment Discrimination; Mine and Quarry; and Wage and Hour bureaus. With more than 15 years of experience in internal auditing, forensic accounting, special investigations, and operational oversight, he brings a proven record of strengthening internal controls, enhancing transparency, and improving organizational integrity across state programs. 
As NCDOL’s first Internal Auditor, Robert established the Department’s internal audit function from the ground up, creating the charter, policies, and procedures that continue to guide NCDOL’s accountability efforts. His work alongside leadership across the entire Department has given him a deep understanding of NCDOL’s operations, regulatory responsibilities, and the ongoing need to balance compliance with exceptional public service. 
A Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Robert offers specialized expertise in fraud prevention, detection, and investigation. An eight-year United States Army veteran, he grounds his leadership philosophy in the discipline, integrity, teamwork, and mission focus developed during his military service.
