On August 24, 2006, federal OSHA issued this final rule to revise its existing respiratory protection standard (29 CFR 1910.134) to add definitions and requirements for Assigned Protection Factors (APFs) and Maximum Use Concentrations (Federal Register). The revisions also supersede the respirator selection provisions of existing substance specific standards in 29 CFR 1910, 1915.154 (Refers back to 1910.134 as being identical) , and 1926.103 (Refers back to 1910.134 as being identical) with these new APFs (except for the 1,3-Butadiene standard). The N.C. Commissioner of Labor adopted the revised federal standards verbatim with an effective date of November 22, 2006.
