Cypress Glen Retirement Community earned recertification as a participant in the N.C. Department of Labor’s Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) during a ceremony held at the company’s Greenville facility on Thursday, July 14.
Labor Commissioner Josh Dobson attended the ceremony where he provided keynote remarks and presented the ceremonial SHARP flag to company leadership and employees.

Labor Commissioner Josh Dobson visited Syngenta North America Crop Protection in Greensboro on Tuesday, May 17, to present employees and management with a 21 Million-Hour award. Million-Hour safety awards are given to businesses which accumulate one million employee hours with no injuries or illnesses involving days away from work.
Mitchell County native James “Beau” Thomas was named the new chief of the labor department’s Mine and Quarry Bureau in an announcement made by Labor Commissioner Josh Dobson during a staff meeting on Tuesday, May 10. Thomas succeeds previous bureau chief William Gerringer, who retired at the end of April.
