Today, The North Carolina Department of Labor (NCDOL) released its latest Quarterly Elevator Index, highlighting continued growth in new elevator device permits across the state.
Year-to-date figures demonstrate steady growth:
- 2026 Q4 New Device Permits: 214
- +2.9% increase from 2025 Q4 (208)
- SFY-2026 Total Device Permits: 721
For State Fiscal Year 2026, NCDOL issued a total of 721 device permits, reflecting continued construction activity and investment in commercial, residential, and public infrastructure across North Carolina.
"The continued growth in elevator permits is another sign of North Carolina's strong economy and ongoing development," said Labor Commissioner Luke Farley. "As construction continues across our state, the N.C. Department of Labor remains committed to ensuring every elevator system is installed, inspected, and operated safely."

- Mecklenburg – 47
- Wake – 44
- Durham – 19
- New Hanover – 17
- Guilford – 10
