John Wesley Waugh

John Wesley Waugh serves as Director of Communications for the North Carolina Department of Labor under Commissioner Luke Farley. In this role, he leads the Department’s strategic messaging and public relations efforts.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Waugh holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with double minors in American Studies and Political Science. He has built a career in public service and political communications, contributing to congressional, municipal, and statewide campaigns.

In the past, Waugh served as Director of Communications in North Carolina’s Executive Branch. His communications expertise has led to appearances in news outlets such as The New York Times, NPR, Fox News, and The Charlotte Observer.
