On June 18, 1998, federal OSHA promulgated a final rule that corrected or eliminated provisions from various standards (Federal Register). These changes were made to correct out of date, duplicative, unnecessary, or inconsistent standards.

One of the changes concerns the initiation of explosive charges in construction (29 CFR 1926.906). Paragraph (q) is amended to allow the use of other types of specifically designed instruments, in addition to those with silver chloride cells, when testing circuits to charged holes.

The June 18, 1998, corrections and revisions were adopted verbatim with an effective date of October 8, 1998.
