On June 18, 1998, federal OSHA promulgated a final rule that corrected or eliminated provisions from various standards (63 FR 33449-33469). One of the changes concerns the standard on vinyl chloride (Ref: 29 CFR 1910.1017). This rule corrects § 1910.1017 by deleting paragraphs (g)(5)(i) and (g)(5)(ii), because the operations discussed in these paragraphs are covered by the HAZWOPER standard, 29 CFR 1910.120.

The June 18, 1998, corrections and revisions (63 FR 33449-33469) were adopted verbatim with an effective date of October 8, 1998. Additional resources and information can be found on the safety and health topics page for Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response and Chemical Hazards and Toxic Substances. To determine if this rule applies, go to "Do your employees have occupational exposure to vinyl chloride?".
